Kaya,
It is an honour and a privilege to be Principal while Jane Rowlands, our substantive principal, is on a three-year secondment with the Department of Education.
Floreat Park Primary School stands on Whadjuk Noongar land and we commit to caring for this beautiful country, just as the traditional custodians have done for tens of thousands of years. We acknowledge them and pay our respects to their elders, past and present.
I joined Floreat in 2017 as Deputy Principal and have worked closely with Jane, the staff and community to build the school we have today.
A strength of Floreat is our ‘governance triangle’ which consists of the School Board, The P&C and the Leadership Team.
In partnership with the community, we have focused on developing safe and engaging learning environments, including new play spaces, flexible furniture in classrooms and access to technology that enriches learning. Our latest project is the resurfacing of our basketball courts.
The governance of The School Board brings a rich depth of knowledge and skills that ensure the we set ambitious and achievable targets for our students and meet our legislative requirements.
Finally, the staff focus on a collaborative culture and the continual improvement of contemporary, evidence-based teaching and learning, led by our growing number of middle-level instructional leaders.
Prior to Floreat, I originally came to Australia as a Principal Consultant for the Department of Education. My role was to help schools leaders and teachers improve literacy and numeracy outcomes, with a particular focus on leveraging technologies.
Prior to that, in the UK, I spend fifteen years leading significant improvement in several challenging inner-city schools.
Welcome, everyone, to Floreat Park Primary School!
