Kindy Busy Bee – Sunday 8th September – Thank You!
What an amazing day! We are so grateful for the generosity and community spirit of the many volunteers who made this event a huge success. The dads toiled over an impossibly huge, old hibiscus tree stump, weighing in at 300kg on removal – it’s truly amazing what dads can achieve when they pool their energy! The mums dug up the sandpit edges and relined the framing – hard yakka! This is just a taste of the work that took place yesterday.

Special thanks to:
- The many volunteers – too many to name…who gave up half a Sunday to enable us to achieve such an amazing result.
- Luke and Marisa from digWA for the use of your equipment all afternoon and your expertise in planting the beautiful Gleditsia Tree.
- All the Kindy class reps for organising such an enjoyable busy bee.
- The Floreat Dads for bringing your muscle power.
- Ann Johnston our Kindy Red teacher, for giving up your Sunday afternoon to help out with the busy bee.
- Michel and Jane from Amore for spoiling us with delicious coffees mid-afternoon.
What we achieved:
- removed 2 old Hibiscus trees
- planting of a new large Gleditsia tree and creation of a tactile herb garden bed out the front for the kids.
- tidied up around all fence lines and grass edges.
- relined part of the sandpit
- trimmed back some of the lower trees at the back.
- power-sprayed the weather screens and eaves near sandpit and the sandpit equipment
- installed a leaf barrier between the tennis court and back fence line.
- levelled the grass hill down to the sandpit to a safer gradient.
- cleared, tidied and planted out the existing garden beds.
The P&C will also be getting quotes for the following and will be working to get these done in the holidays
- Removal, cleaning and replacement of the shade sails (Oct holidays)
- Tree trimming by professional loppers of the large trees at the back (Dec holidays)
