P&C News – Welcome back to Term 4

We trust you had a restful break and are ready for a busy, exciting term. Some updates on what the P&C has been up to:

At the end of Term 3 the Kindy gardens had a makeover. The P&C enjoyed working alongside parents to get this area looking neat and tidy.

Over the school holidays further projects were initiated around the school:

BER pathway: this was installed to assist the school with grounds maintenance in this area. The well- worn, muddy path has been replaced with a beautiful cement path matching in with the other walkways in this area.

Turf rehabilitation: The area around the path was rehabilitated with beautiful new turf. The area is cordoned off for a couple weeks to allow it time to grow, but the path is fully functional.

The Canteen Refurb: was started in Term 3 with the design of a new logo and the purchase of new commercial equipment. The old fridge freezer, was very temperamental and costly to run and the oven was too small for our large school. We’ve replaced these items and also purchased a large holding oven.

The Canteen and the external area around the The Uniform Shop area was repainted during the holidays. Please take time to wander past and take a look. We are in the process of installing new graphics/ signage in The Canteen and outside The Uniform Shop.

Lost Property Shelving: A new shelving system was purchased and the lost property sorted through. When you’re looking for an item, please take time to ensure all clothing is hanging up on the hangers provided. Please always label your children’s clothing and lunch boxes.

Interactive Screens: The P&C has been working with the school to install new interactive screens to replace the old projector systems throughout the school. This project is part of the business plan with an aim for completion in 2 years. The school funded the purchase of an initial 6 screens in 2018 and a further 1 screen earlier this year. They requested assistance from the P&C to complete the project over the next 2 years and the P&C have since funded 5 interactive screens installed in classrooms at the end of Term 2 with the intention to complete the project in 2020 & 2021.

An amazing supplier offer valid for 2019, became available enabling us to complete this project early, meaning all students could benefit from new screens now. P&C funds have been reallocated towards this initiative to ensure installation could take place during the school holidays. We are very pleased to report that the project is now complete and every child in the school is benefitting educationally from new screens made possible with your generous P&C contributions. Thank you to the school for contributing a further $10,000 shortfall to get us over the line – this was a wonderful example of great teamwork!

Term 4 is always busy and exciting. Please ensure to take note of activities happening around school by keeping up to date with notices sent out on Connect and reading the emails sent to you by your class reps.

Stay & Play: This will be happening this Friday, 18 October after school on the grass by the play equipment. All FPPS kids who stay & play will receive a free Quelch from the P&C. Bring along a picnic blanket and some snacks and make the most of this gorgeous weather!

Melbourne Cup Event: This is on Thursday 5th November at 10:30am at the Reabold Tennis Club – more info on the events page of our website. Book your tickets now.

Outdoor Learning Playspace: This long anticipated area has been cordoned off and demolition works and construction are scheduled to start this Saturday. The project is expected to take 4 – 6 weeks to complete, after which time landscaping will need to be arranged. Please note that several diseased trees and foliage in this area will be removed during demolition, however, new mature trees and bushes will be purchased in 2020 to replace those removed. More information is available here.

This project has been made possible with equal funding from the school and the P&C, once again, working together has meant we’ve been able to drive this large project forward in 2019, instead of phasing it over into late 2020 or even 2021. Further funding from our 2020 P&C budget will be needed to complete the landscaping component.

QKR App: The P&C will be working alongside the school to improve processes in 2020. FPPS & the P&C will be launching the new app at the start of the new school year. All school payments will be made possible via QKR and the P&C are also aiming for parents to be able to pay all P&C related activities via the app too. This will need to be a phased process starting with P&C contributions in Term 1, but we anticipate The Uniform Shop and The Canteen being available by Term 2. Watch this space

Our final meeting for 2019 will be held on Tuesday, 12 November in the library from 7 – 8:30pm. Please put it in your diary and join us to vote in the new constitution, finalise matters for 2019 and plan for 2020. If you have any items for the agenda for this meeting, please forward them to us now so we have time to discuss or even action them prior.

If you haven’t paid your contributions yet, it’s not too late, please do so via the office.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Kind Regards

Pen Melis (P&C President) & The P&C Exec
